Press Release
Caton Connector Corporation has been awarded a contract from Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems for the power cable assemblies that will be used on the DDG-1000 Zumwalt – class destroyer.
The cable assembly consists of a 9 pin molded circular connector and has 34 different variations. The assembly will be used in a segment of the ship’s computing environment infrastructure which serves as the ship’s primary LAN and as the hardware platform for all of the ship’s software.
Caton Connector has achieved a Preferred Supplier status with Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems and this contract results in an intial requirement for 144 assemblies. The Zumwalt-class destroyer (DDG-1000, previously known as the DD(X) program) is a planned class of United States Navy destroyers, designed as multi-mission ships with a focus on land attack.
The Zumwalt-class destroyers are multi-role and designed for surface warfare, anti-aircraft, and naval fire support. They take the place of the battleships in filling the former congressional mandate for naval fire support, though the requirement was reduced to allow them to fill this role. The vessel's appearance has been compared to that of the historic ironclad.
Caton Connector Corporation – Kingston, Massachusetts, founded in 1973, is a manufacturer of high voltage connectors and cable assemblies for use in the Military, Semiconductor, Utility, Medical and Avionics industries. The majority of Caton’s products operate at voltages up to 100kVdc; altitudes up to 50,000 ft and have partial discharge levels of less than15kV RMS. Assembly configurations have up to 13 conductors, multi-shields, use single, double and triple extruded silicone cable and are built to lengths of up to 300 feet. |
